Restoring integrity to government was a driving force for me to run to represent you as the Member for Boothby.
I am proud to be a part of a Government that cares about transparency and accountability, and I was very proud that the Government has got on with establishing a real National Anti-Corruption Commission (the NACC) that will be able to hold us all to account.
We said we would establish a federal anticorruption commission, and last year we legislated one.
By establishing a powerful, transparent and independent National Anti-Corruption Commission in our first term, our government is taking the vital first step and acting quickly to restore the kind of institutional accountability and transparency that Australians rightly expect of their elected representatives.
Tha NACC opened for business on 1 July. Anyone can make referrals, referrals can be anonymous, and as an independent commission, the NACC will decide what it investigates, whether it has a referral or not.

Of course, this is not the end. The work of embedding integrity into our public institutions continues. The Attorney-General Mark Dreyfus KC is continuing the work on a judicial review body and a review of whistle-blower protection legislation.
This government is committed to integrity because we know integrity matters to you.
