Music and Art Therapy

A number of members of our community have contacted me in recent days regarding the National Disability Insurance Agency (NDIA) changes announced to music and art therapy, and the potential impacts on those who benefit from those therapies as well as the therapists who provide them.

The people who do this work are highly trained and the valuable work they do should be respected.

I support the NDIA taking a rigorous, evidence-based approach in determining which therapies it funds – the NDIS is too important not to be managed efficiently and effectively.

I am confident that analysis will find that there is a strong and longstanding evidence base for the efficacy of art and music therapy.

I will be supporting music and art therapists from my community as they work to demonstrate this to the NDIA.
