A re-elected Albanese Labor Government will deliver $800,000 to support the relocation of the Blackwood & Community RSL to a new co-located site with the Blackwood Bowling Club on Council land.
This election commitment will help create a purpose-designed veterans’ facility, ensuring a welcoming and private space for service members and their families.
The relocation comes as the existing Brighton Parade site becomes increasingly unviable due to ageing infrastructure and costly maintenance.
The new facility at Simla Parade will include:
There are over 4,000 veterans living in the Boothby electorate, with around 500 living in the City of Mitcham.
This partnership between the RSL, the bowling club and the City of Mitcham is set to strengthen community ties and provide lasting benefits for veterans and the wider Blackwood community.
Labor is committed to honouring our veterans and investing in their wellbeing. This election commitment ensures their service is never forgotten, and their future is secure.
Consistent with past practice, election commitments will be delivered in line with Commonwealth Grants Rules and Principles.
