Flinders HealthCARE Centre – A $300 Million Health Hub for Adelaide’s South

A re-elected Albanese Labor Government will partner with Flinders University to deliver the Flinders HealthCARE Centre — a state-of-the-art health service for our community.

I was thrilled to be joined by the Prime Minister and Premier at Flinders Medical Centre to announce this huge boost for Adelaide’s South.

This is part of our plan to strengthen Medicare and build the infrastructure we need for our future.

This $150 million investment — matched by Flinders University — will help build a brand-new 10 storey facility in the Flinders Health Precinct at Bedford Park.

The centre will provide locals with 10,000 additional health appointments each year and see 1,300 health professionals graduate each year.

This includes:

  • More than 490 nurses
  • 250 social workers
  • 128 occupational therapists and speech pathologists
  • 101 paramedics
  • 60 physiotherapists
  • More than 50 midwives
  • 24 clinical psychologists
  • 180 other allied health professionals

It builds on our record of supporting healthcare in South Australia,

with:

  • additional funding for public hospitals
  • a once-in-a-generation upgrade to Flinders Medical Centre,
  • and a Medicare Urgent Care Clinic in Marion

We’re also making medicines cheaper, with PBS scripts capped at $25.

This is in stark contrast to Peter Dutton’s plans to cut Medicare and raise taxes.

Only a vote for Labor is a vote for stronger Medicare and better healthcare for all.

Together, we can build a better South Australia.
